FDLE investigates deputy-involved shooting in Broward

WEST PARK, Fla. – A Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a person on Sunday afternoon in the West Park area.

The shooting was in the area of Southwest 26 Street and 40 Avenue, according to Carey Codd, a spokesman for BSO.

“The deputy was punched in the face,” Codd said.

The Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Station 27 is at the same intersection. Codd said the deputy was “forced to fire the weapon.”

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported BSO requested an investigation into the deputy’s use of force.
